Wilmington, DE. (May 20, 2005) – The Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC) announces that five major companies in companion animal health have joined the group’s founding sponsor, Novartis Animal Health, as industry supporters. Platinum sponsors are Bayer Animal Health, Merial and Pfizer Animal Health. Silver sponsors are Schering-Plough Animal Health and IDEXX Laboratories.
The mission of the CAPC is to foster animal and human health, while preserving the human-animal bond, through recommendations for the diagnosis and year-round management of parasitic infections in cats and dogs.
The CAPC has developed and released parasite control guidelines which are now available to veterinary professionals. The Council believes in year-round control of internal and external parasites that threaten the health of pets and people.
Dr. Mike Paul, CAPC president, says his group is grateful for the funding from all of the sponsors. “We are excited about the participation of each of our sponsors. These educational grants allow us to continue in our mission of educating the veterinary industry and the public on the benefits of parasite control in cats and dogs.”

The CAPC is an independent organization established to create guidelines (now available to veterinary professionals) for the optimal control of internal and external parasites that threaten the health of pets and people. The CAPC membership represents broad expertise in parasitology, internal medicine, public health, veterinary law, private practice and association leadership.
