Doubleheader with the Padres

July 2nd, 2009

The Padres did not fare well against the Houston Astros (RV team member and Astros fan Sonya was ecstatic.) However, the CAPC team did have a big day at the ballpark with two event locations. From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. the RV was parked just outside the Petco Dog Park, where  dog traffic was steady. Dr. Ruth MacPete and Dr. Mike Paul answered questions for 5 hours with several waiting at all times.

At 3:00 p.m. the team moved the RV to the sidewalk in front of the gate to the stadium. We could not have had a better billboard opportunity with the CAPC RV, as every fan had to walk right past us to get in.

Our time in San Diego was a huge success and between the TV spots and large crowds at the ballpark, the people of San Diego are just a little wiser about wily parasites and the risks to pets and people.

More TV Coverage in San Diego (CBS)

July 1st, 2009

It was another early morning for the CAPC RV…call time at 5:45 for the morning news at KUSI, the CBS affiliate. The segment was approximately 4 minutes and ran at around 7:00 a.m. Dr. Ruth MacPete and Annie the Australian Terrier provided viewers with the scoop on pets, parasites and people. Using cereal bowls full of actual hookworms, whipworms and tapeworms to showcase the nasty creatures that can infect pets, Dr. MacPete gave San Diego a reason to go light on breakfast this morning.

HUGE Night at Phil’s BBQ

July 1st, 2009

Last night the CAPC held a professional CE event at Phil’s BBQ in San Deigo, where almost 100 veterinarians and technicians came to hear Dr. Bowman do two presentations. Our no-show rate was less than 5 percent and we welcomed extra attendees from several clinics. Thank you San Diego, for showing your support of the CAPC.

The BBQ was unbelievable and Phil himself showed up to wish the CAPC well. In fact, one of the RV team members who will remain nameless ate 17 ribs and 9 pieces of corn.

Across the Desert

June 30th, 2009

It was a long, hot push across the desert for the CAPC Road Show Team. Leaving Green River, Utah at the break of dawn, the group traveled through canyon country, across the hardpan and into the Mojave Deseret before descending into the Inland Empire and San Diego.

"It's critical to hydrate in the desert, so we're making sure that everyone on the team drinks plenty of Monster," says Dr. Paul.
