Last Leg!

July 30th, 2010

On Thursday, the CAPC was busy, starting at 4:30am with an appearance on Jacksonville stations WAWS FOX 30 and WTEV CBS 47. Our awesome reporter, Kristen Cosby, did a number of live shots with her dog, Dallas, and our star talent, Dr. Mike Paul. Although it was early, it was a great way to start the morning.

That same day, the CAPC did an interview with another Jacksonville television station, First Coast News, WJXX ABC 25 and WTLV NBC 12. Both were great opportunities for the team. The staff and reporters at both stations were great!

Yesterday afternoon, the CAPC headed to the St. Augustine Premium Outlets for a public event. We were excited by the number of dogs we saw at the outlet mall. Although it rained heavily for most of the event, it didn’t stop faithful dog owners from coming out to meet our group!

Last night, the group left Dr. Blagburn at home for dinner for fear that he would attempt another “water landing.” Instead of a waterfront dinner, the group got Chinese takeout!

Today, part of the group arrived in Atlanta for the last public event at Centennial Park, right by the Olympic Fountains! It should be a great time. Those who stayed behind in Jacksonville hosted a CE event at River City Brewing Company. It was great to see everyone who came out. What a way to end an awesome road show.

CAPC Skinny Dip

On Tuesday, the CAPC held a CE event at the Daytona International Airport. While the CAPC wasn’t flying anywhere, the venue and event were great. There was 100% attendance and a high number of membership signups that night. Who knew airports could be such good luck for the CAPC?

The next day, the CAPC split up in order to finish tackling Daytona. While part of the group held a lunch at a local veterinary clinic, the rest of the CAPC headed to the Daytona Cubs game. With the RV parked right outside the entrance, it was hard to miss the CAPC as they haned out frisbees, tennis balls and more helpful pet health information.

Following the game, the CAPC was on the road to Jacksonville, Florida. While the events were done for the day, the group enjoyed dinner at Clark’s Fish Camp, where Dr. Blagburn took a dip in the creek. Although he returned the hotel soaking wet, the evening was still a great success, the food and service unmatched thus far in the local economy.

Orlando and Winter Park: Hot, but entertaining.

July 27th, 2010

The CAPC Road Show has been busy the last few days. On Sunday, they held a public event at Fleet Peeples Dog Park in Winter Park, Florida. The event was held on a special day, as Fleet Peeples had just been named the #2 best dog park in the Nation. It was a great day to spend with pets and their owners. The CAPC gave away a lot of frisbees, tennis ball and advice.

That evening, the group headed East when they ate dinner at Ming’s Bistro, a very authentic Chinese restaurant in Orlando. The food and local experience were both fantastic. Click here for an Urbanspoon review of the Zagat-rated restaurant.

The next day, the CAPC visited many local clinics and spread the word of the new membership program. Visiting the clinics is a great way for the CAPC to spread the word about the importance of parasite prevention. The CAPC visited such clinics as the Corrine Drive Animal Hospital, the Sanlando Animal Hospital and the Westmont Animal Clinic.

Last night, the CAPC held a CE event at 310 Park South, a quaint American-style restaurant in Winter Park, Florida. The event was at capacity, and the crowd asked great questions. Up early this morning, the CAPC did a little shopping and hit the road to Daytona Beach. Until tonight’s dinner, the group can be found looking for NASCAR drivers.

Karoake CAPC and a blast from the past

July 25th, 2010

After simultaneous and successful events in Fort Lauderdale, the CAPC team mixed it up with the locals at McSorley’s, where karoake was the name of the game.

“This was my first visit to a karoake bar,” says Sonya Hennessy, CAPC association manager, “and I was really impressed by the level of talent last night.”

CAPC Board member and esteemed professor from Auburn Unviersity, Dr. Byron Blagburn is no stranger to the stage. Blagburn played lead guitar and keyboards for legendary rock band Pure Smack.

“Karoake night was good fun and allowed all of us to relax a little” says Blagburn. “I didn’t sing last night because I thought it was unfair to bring out the big guns at an amateur event.”

The CAPC Team has agreed to keep private all photos and any video that may or may not exist of individual performances. According to the team, hit rock band Journey was well represented.

For those about to rock, we salute you...

Sharks

July 25th, 2010

Dogs swam, retrieved and frolicked in the calm waves of the Atlantic at Canine Beach in Fort Lauderdale yesterday, completely unaware of the dozens of sharks cruising the beach. Luckily no dogs or people encountered the maneaters during the CAPC public event.

“It’s my understanding that shark attacks are extremely rare,” says Illinois Blasdel, CAPC PR guy, “however, I prefer not to enter the water with the maneaters and I maintained a constant watch for dorsal fins during the event.”

Dr. Mike Paul counseled dozens of pet owners at the event.

“I was really pleased that most of the pet owners we talked to were already practicing year-round parasite control,” says Dr. Mike Paul.

Big Night in Fort Myers

July 25th, 2010

The CAPC parasitologists rocked the house at The Edison in Fort Myers. Almost 90 veterinarians and technicians attended the CAPC CE event.

“I am not surprised that we keep throwing down the big numbers,” says Dr. Byron Blagburn, “the word is out that CAPC puts on a good show, so vets and techs don’t want to miss it.”

According to the CAPC team, this year’s CAPC Road Show is expected to DOUBLE the number of veterinarians and technicians that attend CE events.
